First day in Bangkok.
This one and further posts will be more of photos than text, since this is the only material that could be interesting in my case :)
Small summary will be afterwards.
It took about 40 minutes from landing to grab a taxi via Uber, which seems to be quite good result even for morning time around 10 o'clock. And an hour to get to the hotel (it's located in old town, somewhere in 3km away from Grand Palace).
First view of Bangkok for me, also first feelings of hot and humid climate (it was no more than +18 in Cherepovets).
When I was walking through airports doors into parking on that floor, my first thought was it's some kind of air gun working there, and what a crazy person would set up hot air corridor here? But it was fresh weather as I found in later days!

I spent near six hours in hotel, sleeping right in the middle of the day trying to fix my lack of good sleep during the flight and maybe some jet lag. It worked well and next days were perfectly fine in that sense.
So, I waked up and decided to have a walk and a dinner (I haven't ate anything since last evening in fact), however promenade was more important - I was so excited to being somewhere new to me and eager to see the city and everything.
I went out and took some pictures - most of them quite dull, just of the things I found worth a shoot of a smart phone (anyway, I do not use a camera, so all my shots are with the smart phone).
Typical street in old town, near one of the schools. I liked that kind of pavement and its colours in particular.

Famous cobweb of cables (not spectacular one, but first seen)

Video of a bit of traffic, full of motorbikes.
Finally hunger made me to search something to eat.
I stopped at the street cafe and ordered simple meal. I took a shot of the menu just to tease few guys on Facebook, so here they are in addition.

It was intriguing to start even with such typical, ordinary thai food.
Needless to say it was delicious in my state :)
Rice with chicken

and kiwi lemonade with kiwi cake

Meanwhile darkness had fallen and rest of the walk was in night mode.

Spirit house, with lots of details

This type of piping was new to me, also the view and smell of the water in canals (it's far from pleasant :))

I didn't cross the river that day and at that point already was heading back to the hotel.
It's on the river's bank and you clearly see lightened stupa of the temple.
It shouldn't be Wat Arun (angle and point of the shooting doesn't allow it to appear on the left side, but it's not so important).

Under the birdge and around

There was still a lot of people on the bank

and some of them were even fishing for something in this muddy smelly mess!

Video of traffic again. It's noisy and still moving.
This cat looked so tired and full of zen :)

And his angry companion made out of stone (there were two of them, but second one was covered in bird shit, so I won't show it)

This night in hotel was great (because I was still tired out of acclimatization) and sleep was deep and nice (I will tell about other nights later =))
Album with all photos and videos from Bangkok.
